Spare in construction and in color, Andreev’s work speaks to Europe’s and the U.S.’s tangled relationships to African-American and Afro-Caribbean cultures. The work, according to Andreev, functions as allegory, and the paintings, he has said, “create an emotional dialogue within the classical realm of a collective unconscious.”

New York -based Andreev has exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art and Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. His work can be found in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (New York).
